Due to the recent excitement on a couple of other forums about a new John Deere combine which the company has apparently allowed much sneak peeks at, I decided to call someone I met 26 years ago, who was then, a leading engineer in John Deere's combine division. I had full intention of having this gentleman go over to one of the sites, log-on and just see for himself, what has come about, since his retirement from Big D. Sadly, the man I spoke to, is stricken with senility or Alheimer's. He not only had no internet access or computer at home, but really had lost all grasp on the 00 Series which he helped bring into the world. He could not even tell me just when he retired from Deere and Company. I had to remind him. I really wish I had called him at least 10 years earlier, seeing how he was still retired, but most likely still in tune with the world of combines. My old friend was still alive in body, but that is all. His career with John Deere spanned some 30 years. It's just too bad he could not share stories of his influence on things like the Maximizers, let alone the sTS' which are only the progeny of decades of astute R&D.

Nice post, Harold. Sorry to hear about your acquaintance. It would be interesting to get the perspective from an insider. I, too, agree with you Deere let this leak or become public. Still interesting. Surprised this has not picked up here on the Deere site or above thread, at least a little bit.
I think the machine looks good, except for my jerking about the cab, first glance threw me, but it is growing.
