Hello
I am glad to be able to post. I read the other site almost every day but could never register. We run a '97 R62 and have been going over it this winter. We realized the cg ele was worn and replaced it. Cost from dealer was $770 - over twice what it was three years ago. Did they make a mistake or is that what they cost now?

I know this is a bit late as you have already replaced the thing, but if you do another elevator here is something to think about. Try to find a decent machine shop in your area and they can probably make it for a lot less than what your dealer will sell it to you for. We have had several made for our machines by a machine shop. We buy the steel, take them the old elevator and they shear it, bend it and drill the holes. Sometimes they dont get the holes just perfect so it takes a little persuasion but its worth the saved $$. Just something for future reference.
Oh and plus you can use a heavier gauge of metal for longer wear. I cant remember exactly what we use but it is thicker than what gleaner uses.

I guess I wasn't clear - $770 was just for the elevator chain w/ scrapers not for the housing. This seemed high to me.

Jeff, As an independant repair shop we always check around for best pricing. We are a dealer for A&I Products and they have them for $346.83 (American Made Chain) for an R62. We have also used Shoup Mfg. and they have them for $305.25,(Also american Made Chain) but that was Spring of 2008 and the price may have gone up a bit. Nice part about Shoup Mfg. is that any order over $200 the freight is free. Hyper Harvest II
