This harvest has been my most trying harvest in my 34 farming years. It has been a wet cold year and I waited until November to start harvest and the moisture was running 30 to 34% when I started. It has continued to rain and today I reached the half way point on corn harvest. The TR 99 has had one breakdown this year. The header drive belt broke while combining a load. I have not run the TR 99 in mud before but it is doing fairly well. I have gotten stuck several times but always have been able to back out. It is so soft now, we have to park the auger cart and load trucks on the road. Moisture on the corn now is running 24 to 28%. I will be glad when I can say good bye to this farming year. Here in Illinois, yields are down about 40 bu per acre and harvest conditions are terrible. It sure makes you appreciate the years we usually have.
